Good Spring Weather

We've had some lovely, warm spring days this week. When I came home from breakfast with friends on Saturday morning, Kelly and the girls were making the best of it. The girls played outside for hours. Kelly had a nap and rejoined them later in the afternoon. I finished the playroom sort-and-clean-out with the window open and a great breeze coming through. You can't beat California weather.

Nerd Day and Birthday Celebrating

Today was Twin Day for Jenna's school and Nerd Day for Heather's school. Jenna's twin was unavailable for photos, but we captured our nerd in all her glory.
Our cute nerd wasn't feeling so well at school after running the mile, and she texted me. I told her to hang in there and sent her my love via text. I think she was feelin' the lovin' coming through the phone...

Later in the day...

My friend, Michelle, and I took Jenna and Sarah out for come celebratory frozen yogurt after dinner. These girls had their birthdays during our Stake production, and we could not get our schedules to work together for combined celebrations (they are 2 weeks apart). We finally went out tonight and let them celebrate each other and exchange presents. They were really cute.

Guess Who?

Guess who bumped her Pre-Algebra grade up to an A-?
Oh yeah.

Guess who would like to grow up faster than the intended pace for a human child?
Yep. In't she cute? I told her Glinda was missing her shoes.

Spice and Peeps

Two totally unrelated subjects for your viewing pleasure...

In our house, Kelly and Heather have to have flavah on everything. Heather was introduced to Red Devil several years ago and has taken to putting it on any meat as well as using it for vegetable dipping sauce (broccoli and Red Devil...yep). Kelly is the MexiPep man. He can do without, but he'd rather not. Over the weekend, a shortage in the cupboard was reported. Stater Bros is the only store that carries Red Devil and MexiPep, so today was the day I stocked up!

Jenna has moved up to the 10 & 11-year-old group in Activity Days. Her teacher is marvelous and taught Heather so much, so we were excited that Jenna will have her too. Jenna is hard to please, but after her first activity, she was sold on Sister Wilcox. Today was only her second time there, but again, she was a happy girl. Look at this fun activity! Gotta love a great Activity Days leader.

And the next day...

1. Jenna woke up with no fever and some energy. Doctor reported lungs were crystal clear; probably a random 24-hour virus

2. Heather made it through Tuesday and took make-up math test after school; received B (woot!)

3. Jenna felt well enough to tryout for the Extra Team for AYSO U11; did well for girl coming off a fever

4. Dined at Del Taco for dinner as neither Kelly nor I wanted to prepare dinner (viva la Taco Tuesday)

5. Watching soccer tryouts, walking dog, picking up prescriptions, folding and putting away two baskets of laundry, tiding up living room and kissing hub and girls goodnight was about all that got done after the morning doctor appointments. So much for projects, but that's the way it goes some days. I guess I need to count the chauffeur services, and breakfast and lunch preparation. It all counts. Why am I listing my accomplishments? It is to make myself feel better. Yes, yes it is. Thank you for reading.

6. Read email from Angie -- Thanks and love for your update; will email soon...

Starting out the week with...

1. Jenna home w/fever (following up with doctor tomorrow)
2. Heather tired and queasy (dissecting squid in 4th period did not help)
3. Captured Black Widow in living room curtains (ewww)
4. Walking date with husband (read: took dog for walk and had 20 minutes with no little ears listening)
5. Desk cleared off, filing done
5. Caught up with friend via phone
7. Bills paid
8. Taxes e-filed
9. Blogged about day with special note to family and friends (see note below)

Note to family and friends: If you are receiving an email copy of this blog post, and we have not talked within the last week about how life is going with your family, please email me and update me on your life. I miss and love you. I need details. xoxo

Conference Sunday

We finally had a successful General Conference Sunday! I made Conference Notebooks for each daughter containing age-appropriate outlines for notes and activities. The girls paid better attention even if it was just to color the tie of one of the speakers or find a single word that described the talk they were listening to. The Conference Bingo cards I made were a hit (our first time using them), and we used jelly beans for markers (more eaten than were used).

Between sessions, we took Winston for a walk. It was a beautiful day, and we performed a few acts of services for neighbors. The girls picked up cans and bottles that had blown across one yard, and Kelly and I fixed an American flag that had fallen out of it's holder and was upside down in some bushes. When we returned, the girls built a fort for the last session. I wondered how this would work, but they were still quiet and attentive.
