Random Happenings in March

3•15 Jenna's first club team picture. She declared that she will keep all her team pictures until she goes to the Olympics

3•18 Walking field trip to Tacos El Rancho with AP English. They needed chaperones so OF COURSE I grabbed on to that opportunity! Field trips are fun!

3•19 Bring your own container and fill up at 7-11 Boo-yah! Thanks to the Holbrooks for letting us in on the secret and providing the containers.

3•28 Jenna's room is completely furnished now, and she decided to move her bed so she could have a  nightstand. Looks so cute!

The LeBaron's lost their dog sitter at the last minute and asked if Boca could come for Spring Break. Of course we said yes! The weather was beautiful and the pups were so awesome together. We love Boca! (Check out the majestic pic of Sariah...she's so pretty!)

Easter Fun

We managed to dye our eggs on Saturday night per tradition. Love all the creativity and bright colors this year. Easter Sunday was fun with baskets and an egg hunt. After church we started an apple cobbler which we served who the missionaries joined us. They had no place to go, and it seemed like a more "family" type gathering with more people. Dinner was delicious. Celebrating the Atonement and Resurrection, and reflecting on the true meaning of Easter is what it's all about.

Wonder Con 2016

Heather and MacKenzie went to WonderCon without parental units. Kenzie's brother drove them, and we felt okay since they all knew what they were doing. It was a little weird to send her off and realize that she will be doing more and more things with friends like this in the months to come. We usually are together or she's with dad. That part is weird, but fun in a way as we see her spread her independent wings. Day one was Foxy and Chica from Five Nights At Freddy's, and Day two was Harry Potter/Attack on Titans. Heather met Dumbledore! So fun. She lost her wand shortly after this picture which was sad. We'll have to get her another one at Ren Faire next time we go. Other than the wand loss, they had a great time.

Our Awesome Dad

These were some random pictures taken this month that show how awesome Kelly is. He loves hanging out with his daughters wherever either at home or out. He takes the girls (and friends) to Disneyland for spontaneous adventures. He's pretty much up for anything and just loves being wherever they are. I feel very, very blessed to have married such a good man. I knew he was awesome, but his awesomeness runs deep. Those are the things you don't quite know when you get married like whether they'll be a great long-term companion or a good dad. Kelly simply excels at it all.

LDS Formal

The LeBaron's Dinner Party
 Penelope, Jessie and Heather
Kate, Penelope, Jessie, Heather and Lizzie

Tonight was the LDS Formal or Mormal as it's sometimes called. Heather's date was Tanner Grohmann. The theme was the Roaring 20's, and Heather's dress came from a vintage clothing retailer on-line. It was beautiful, and she looked stunning. Tanner was a shy date, but attentive and brought a beautiful corsage. Several of the couples purchased dinner tickets for a lovely dinner at the LeBaron home. Lots of friends were present which helped with conversation. A tour bus to the group up to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. Heather said she had a great time.

The youth don't participate in the school dances like Homecoming and Prom unless a date asks them, and pretty much no one asks. It's sad. But we are grateful that the church offers a traditional, boy asks girl, dance experience like we had when we were young. It was so fun to get her all dressed up and see her off. She's growing up so fast!

Ward Activity - Crazy Socks!

Crazy sock ward activity tonight. Heather was the oldest of the "kids" and won the best crazy socks award! Woot!  There was some tough competition for sure!

Every 15 Minutes

Every other year at the high school, a program called, "Every 15 Minutes," is performed at the school. They use the intersection in front of the school, set up bleachers, and set up an elaborate car crash involving a drunk driver and innocent victims. They start with a 911 call and proceed from there with first responders, ambulances, death on the scene, etc. The next day will be an assembly which will be like a funeral, and a man who lost his family to a drunk driver will speak. I was there this year volunteering. It is very, very emotional to watch. Who knows if it makes a difference to the kids. Lets hope so.

First League Track Meet

Today was Heather's first league match since returning to workouts. Her tailbone is still sore, but she's getting back to work. It may be sore for a while. She'll most likely run JV this year until she gets her times up. It's awesome to watch her run the 300 m Hurdles. Who has that much left at the end of a race to pass people up and take 1st? Not this momma. You go girl!

Missionary Call for Jonathan

Our good friend, Jonathan Holbrook, opened his mission call today. He'll be going to Pennsylvania. We received an invitation to be there while he opened it which we don't get to do very often. It was a special event. Jenna was a good support to Sarah. She'll miss her brother a lot.

Whenever she has my phone, I have selfies. It's a generational thing.

First Tournament as a Setter

Jenna has been playing Opposite hitter for her Ohana team. She has some setting skills and today, with our setter out sick, Jenna got a quick lesson in setting before becoming the team's setter. She did a great job, and she loves setting!

Easing In to the Work World Again

Took a first step back toward employment today when I turned in my paperwork to become a clerical sub for the district. I will be taking Shelly's job, and Tricia's before her, helping with state testing. It's only a few weeks of the year, but it's a start.
