Easter Eggs and Easter Sunday

Saturday we decorated Easter Eggs. From personal experience, I can say that this may never get old for the girls. When I married Kelly, his mom and I decorated eggs. I love doing this and will probably continue. Favorite eggs are the egg egg, the dragon scales and the marble eggs. The girls are so creative. They looked so beautiful on Easter Sunday. We had an egg hunt and a lovely dinner with Grandpa Ron. Our Savior's Atonement is the single most important event that has ever happened on this earth, and we are so grateful to celebrate this each Easter Sunday. We know where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going, and we know that we can only return Home because of His Atonement.

Easter Fun

We managed to dye our eggs on Saturday night per tradition. Love all the creativity and bright colors this year. Easter Sunday was fun with baskets and an egg hunt. After church we started an apple cobbler which we served who the missionaries joined us. They had no place to go, and it seemed like a more "family" type gathering with more people. Dinner was delicious. Celebrating the Atonement and Resurrection, and reflecting on the true meaning of Easter is what it's all about.

Easter Eggs

Although the girls don't love my picture taking, I think we still love (or at least like) dying the Easter Eggs. They were pretty creative this year with patterns (Jenna) and Adventure Time or Five Nights At Freddie's (Heather). I'm cherishing these last few years doing this as a family.

Easter

 This is our first Easter Sunday where our Daddy has been in a bishopric.  That means he has early morning meetings, and we don't get to see him until we get to church and then not again until a bit after church as he stays to attend to his responsibilities.  We made the best of it and after opening Easter baskets and attending Sacrament meeting with Grandpa, we snapped a few family shots of us in our Easter best.  When we were all together, we had our egg hunt.  This used to be conducted in our dresses with our cute smiley faces, but now it appears to be whatever is comfy and best teenager poses.  I love it all.  We had a lovely day and took time to reflect on the Savior's Atonement.  It is amazing to watch our girls progress spiritually in their understanding as we progress in ours.  Happy Easter!

Easter Eggs

Not sure we'll ever get tired of dyeing eggs for Easter.  The girls do get tired of all of my photography, and they are much more apt to duck out if the hair and make up are not right (Jenna), but I was able to capture a few photos to mark the occasion.  Grandpa was here and watching the shenanigans with his sense of humor.  I love that Kelly gets involved and makes an egg or two.  My favorite this year was an egg Jenna did that will be telling in the future.  Hashtags are all the rage right now in social media, and her "hashtag egg" was very apropos for the times.

 All the eggs were located which means we won't find any weeks from now. Heather displays an egg she made with a sponge technique. 

Remember how they wanted all traditions to remain in place? This is one of them. We should have had video this time though. The girls raced around the yard laughing the whole time. Once they even tried to keep each other from getting to an egg. It was hillarious.

 The Easter baskets had a lot of See's Candy in them, so instead of putting a ton of candy in the eggs, we chose two kinds of candy and added a secret message from the Easter Bunny. The girls found an egg hidden in their rooms with some money inside. That was right up their alley!

We haven't had a nice ham dinner for a while, and it was delicious. We took our traditional 'who's at dinner' picture and since the camera decided to take multiple shots, we made multiple faces. We ended the day with a family night lesson discussing friendship and how to deal with people you are getting to know, and then a couple of Easter messages about the Savior.  It was a beautiful day.
