Random January

1•26 No school today calls for a movie! Love that Heather and I share a love for books and film.

1•29 Took Grandpa shopping at Sam's Club. He was looking pretty dapper.
Shot the picture on the right at choir rehearsal. It was interesting to compare it to one from a few months ago. Eating healthier takes the bloating away and leaves a glow. It's only a couple of pounds difference, but definitely healthier system on the inside.

1•30 Someone is catching up in height to their older sister!

Bruxie and Convention with Friends

1•29 Jenna reached out to Julia and arranged a Bruxie and shopping date. Aren't they the cutest?

1•30 Kenzie and Heather donned their Attack on Titan cosplay and had a great time at Anime LA in Ontario, CA

Quick Kasey Visit

Cousin Kasey was here for a quick visit with her boyfriend, Klay. She had asked to stay with us, but since Jenna had been pretty sick, she and Klay decided to stay with his aunt. We were able to meet for a quick dinner at Ruby's after Jenna's tournament, meet the boyfriend, and visit. We love when Kasey comes to visit!

Club Volleyball!

Jenna started Club Volleyball on January 2 with Ohana Athletic Club. She tried out for Seal Beach and Surf City, but she liked the vibe at Ohana. The girls seem nice and supportive. Her first tournament was today. Kelly is a great sounding board and coach for her, and they talk about volleyball a lot. Jenna has some pretty good skills already. Can't wait to watch her grow in the sport.

These cuties tried out for Fulton's volleyball team today. Jenna has been pretty sick and later in the evening, she had a fever. But she tried out and made the team. Woot!

Saying Goodbye to Young Women

On Sunday, January 3, I was released from my calling as the Young Women 1st Counselor. I wasn't ready for that, and I'm not sure how long it will take not to miss the young women of our ward. The tender mercy in it all (as opposed to being released from the Primary Presidency several years ago via text while I was out of town) was that 1) Sunday was my day to teach the combined lesson 2) I was asked to go with the girls to the temple baptisms a couple of days later, and 3) I was able to complete the birthday gifts for all the girls for the coming year. I saw the gift that these things were. Although I will miss being in the organization with my daughters, I know it's a good thing for daughters to grow with other female role models in their lives. I had that opportunity growing up, and I'm happy that my girls will get to know some great YW leaders during their time in YW.

January and a New Bike

Today Sariah and I took my new bike out on the river trail. It is so fun to ride along the path and look at the sky and the beach ahead. Sariah is a great bike companion. She answers the "heel" command when someone else passes by coming over to the right side of the bike and trotting along with me.  Looking forward to doing this a lot!
