Mormon Formal 007 Style

Heather and Tanner attended the LDS formal tonight. It was 007 themed, and they looked the part. After not being sure if the dress Heather chose would be okay for this dance (it was long, form fitting, and had lace sleeves), Lucy Corey offered to let us rent this beaded stunner. It fit Heather like a glove, covered everything, and was perfect for the theme. The sparkles were so beautiful, and Sister Hansen did an amazing job on Heather's hair. Heather was thrilled to have a date she felt comfortable with and who she could talk to. Lizzy was in this group too which added to the comfort. So fun to see her get all dressed up for this formal where old fashioned values (boy asks the girl) were experienced. Definitely not the norm in our society today, and we're glad our youth get these experiences.

Impromptu Date Night at Disneyland

The girls were both home sick today night so, Kelly and I went ahead and had date night at Disneyland. Nothing better than holding hands and riding rides just like when we were that young, cute dating couple. Hee-hee.

The LeBaron's Dinner Party

Tonight was the LDS Formal or Mormal as it's sometimes called. Heather's date was Tanner Grohmann. The theme was the Roaring 20's, and Heather's dress came from a vintage clothing retailer on-line. It was beautiful, and she looked stunning. Tanner was a shy date, but attentive and brought a beautiful corsage. Several of the couples purchased dinner tickets for a lovely dinner at the LeBaron home. Lots of friends were present which helped with conversation. A tour bus to the group up to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. Heather said she had a great time. 

The youth don't participate in the school dances like Homecoming and Prom unless a date asks them, and pretty much no one asks. It's sad. But we are grateful that the church offers a traditional, boy asks girl, dance experience like we had when we were young. It was so fun to get her all dressed up and see her off. She's growing up so fast!

While Heather and I were at WonderCon, Jenna and Dad decided to try out the Hula Girl Shaved Ice. Awesome date night for them. Love that Kelly spends time with his girls.

A little date night with Dad. Wahoo's and Hula Girl Shaved Ice. Jenna has been to this place, and Heather was really wanting to go. Kelly said it's just like the great ice we had in Hawaii. I can't wait to go check it out!

Captain America Date

Captain America, The Winter Soldier was released recently.  Kelly and Heather took the first opportunity possible to make a date and go see it.  I love my theme-loving girl!  She looked so cute.  The movie was great, and they had a great time together.  Heather's daddy is her very own Captain America.

Progressive Party

Saturday was a busy day for Heather.  We ran to get her some new shoes for volleyball since she's been slipping so badly on the floor.  She also spends a lot of time jumping/blocking, so she needed some cushion.  We found a pair of court shoes that should do the trick (flat surface area compared to running shoes).  The girl is wearing an 8.5.  Holy cow.

After the shoe shopping, we hurried her over to Kenzie's to start the progressive party.  The girls planned this as their get-together over the break, and all of our schedules conflicted until the Saturday before school resumed.  The moms were happy we could actually make it happen for these cuties.  I had mentioned the idea one day after school, and they took off with it.  They were so excited planning it all at school during the days before the break (without moms' input, but fortunately everything was reasonable).  They went to Kenzie's house for popcorn, sparkling cider and WiiU games, then to our house for homemade hot cocoa and a few rounds of Quelf, and then to Grace's house for a movie and dinner. The movie never happened, but dinner and being goofy were very enjoyable.  They had so much fun together.  Kaella, Kenzie's friend, joined the crew, and all the girls were sad to find out Madi was sick.  We'll have to plan another party so that Madi can come.

Jenna spent some time with Sarah while Kelly and I jetted out to grab dinner.  Dinner ended up being Jack-in-the-Box, but we were happy to have a few minutes of uninterrupted kid time.  The girls were home by 9:00PM and in bed before ten.  Early church tomorrow!
