This Olympic year has been fun for our family primarily because we personally know three of the athletes. We are having so much fun tuning into all the games and cheering on our friends.
Jake and his cute wife, Jane, moved into our ward several years ago after moving from Utah so that Jake could pursue a professional volleyball career. I remember how he kind of had to duck when he walked in the chapel because he was so tall! Jake's two sisters, Christine and Marali, have also lived in our ward, and it has been so awesome to know this family.

Kelly met Misty's dad, Butch, back when Misty played for Cal State Long Beach. They've been friends for several years and often play together on our local beach. He is a great guy. A few years back during the Manhattan Beach Open, Butch took Kelly and Heather back to Misty's hotel room to have lunch with her. Misty signed a volleyball for Heather and was so sweet. Heather wants to play volleyball and has been following Misty and Kerri closely.

Russell was in Kelly's Young Men's group when he was 14. Kelly encouraged him to try out for the volleyball team at FVHS and spent a little time teaching him some basic skills. We are so happy to have watched him have so much success! His mom and I sing in OCMCO together, and they are such a really great family.
