July 2, 3, 4 - MacKenzie and Heather bought weekend passes for the Anime Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and I went along for two of the three days they attended. This was the most enjoyable of the events we've been to for a couple of reasons. The people were all really nice and accommodating--everyone likes to get pictures with their famous characters, and everyone was really nice about it. It was fun to watch Kenzie and Heather get asked for pictures like they were celebs, and it was just fun to watch them have fun. And everyone dresses up. It's kind of amazing to witness all the costumes and creativity. The girls went as Liz and Patty from "Soul Eater" and got tons of recognition. They even found Death The Kid who is their partner in the show. She hung with us for a while and went to the live action room where the girls acted out a few typical scenes from the show. The girls were interviewed about how they got into anime together during one of the panels, and I did find one character I recognized. Had to get a pic with him. We even ran into Kim Possible and Ron (Heather squealed). And the shopping in the exhibit halls had tons of merchandise. Mostly, I loved spending time with my girl. She has such a sweet heart, and she is so stinking creative and imaginative. Her passion for her passions is possibly a little like her momma's.
