Father's Day and A New Computer for the Graduate

We enjoyed a yummy taco dinner on Father's Day and had a special guest to boot. Caleb was alone this Father's Day so, we invited him to dinner. He had stayed behind when his family went to Utah because he had to work. It was nice to have another guest for dinner. On Monday, we went to the Apple Store where Heather purchased her first laptop. She had received generous monetary gifts from family and friends, and she was able to put that toward her laptop. She is so excited to get writing and have her very own spaced to do that.

Father's Day 2016

Grabbed a quick photo on Father's Day before taking Grandpa home. Normally we take this at the table, but we forgot. Grandpa is getting a little older and foggier. It's hard to see him age, but we're happy we can still honor him on Father's Day.

Father's Day

Celebrating our dads today. Kelly is such an awesome father to our girls. He's energetic and loving, and he's always up for an adventure. He works so hard to provide for our family. We can't thank him enough for that. My dad is 77 and still going strong. He's in the process of moving from Idyllwild to Westminster where he'll be about 8 minutes from us, and that will make it easier for us to help him out when he needs it. I found a picture of he and I on a raft when I was pretty young. I remember my dad being strong and fun and always doing nice things for us. I've mentioned the trips to the park, the Saturday morning donuts and the Thrifty ice cream runs. He taught me how to drive, to get up every morning and to press on even when the going gets tough. We're glad he is still with us so we can celebrate together. Happy Father's Day to our two dear fathers!

People and Presents...

 Kelly got a Willow Tree statue called, "My Girls" as well as some much needed clothing.

 From our family and Michelle's family, Grandpa got a much needed self-inflating air mattress so he doesn't have to mess with the separate mattress and pump on his overnight travels.  And he received some Reese's candy, of course.

Kelly and Heather playing "Blackjack"with M&M's while Jenna watches.  Don't worry, we don't support gambling.  Heather wanted to show Dad what she played at the 8th grade party.  The girls played together for a long time today while Kelly napped.  Those kinds of Sundays are always nice since they don't get a lot of playtime during the week.

Father's Day

We had a relatively quiet and relaxing Father's Day.  My dad drove down Saturday to spend Father's Day with us and we started the day with a special breakfast.  I walked to the kitchen to start cooking and found Heather there ready to make special eggs for her dad.  Our breakfast menu included:

Garlic scrambled eggs with Cajun turkey and cilantro salsa

Eggs over easy with grits

Bacon

Pancakes

Orange juice

We had a nice afternoon at church and returned for dinner.  Jenna had helped me make the fudge brownies earlier in the morning, so dessert was all ready.  While Grandpa and Daddy watched some golf on t.v., I prepared dinner.  The girls set the table, and we enjoyed a yummy dinner.  Dinner menu:

New York steak

Baked potatoes

Corn on the cob

Salad

Fresh bread

Black olives/green olives/dill pickles

Raspberry lemonade, orange peach mango juice or root beer

After dinner we opened presents and had our fudge brownies topped with ice cream and hot fudge.  It was a great day for yummy food and visiting.

Two Dads and a Grandpa

Both my dad and Heather and Jenna's dad got breakfast this morning, but my dad gets his posted with a picture. I had to show my sister, and any of our posterity, that I made grits for my dad. You can't really see them on the plate, but they are closest to the bacon. Just wanted to record that I finally made this southern gentleman his grits (and will hopefully not be compared to my grit-making sister anymore, hee, hee).

After church and taco dinner, we opened presents. Grandpa got some gourmet brownies from the Fairytale Brownie Company, a Fry's Electronics gift card and a book titled, 501 Golf Jokes.

Kelly got some new hiking shoes, hiking socks, a small duffle bag for volleyball and some Mint Meltaways (best mint chocolate ever from a fundraiser). Jenna give Daddy a rock from Utah. That sounds silly, but this girl is serious about the rocks she collects, and she gave one up for her dad.
We love our Daddy and our Grandpa. We are SO lucky to have them to celebrate on Father's Day.
