Sentimental Moments

August 2017
August 2003 - Sharing Ice Cream Truck with Sis

I heard the ice cream truck tonight and I HAD to grab some cash and call the girls to run out with me. They used to hear it during the summer and every now and then, we'd run out and catch it if it wasn't dinner time. Due to all the milestones and life changes coming up, I wanted to grab a piece of the past and be that mom with the little girls again running to catch the ice cream truck. These years flew by so fast. Oh my heart.

Visiting Graves on Mother's Day

We normally visit our grandparents' graves on Memorial Day, but this year we decided to go on Mother's Day. It was a nice, quiet afternoon, and it seemed like a great activity. Both our mothers have passed, so it was a good time to remember them. Kelly cleaned their graves and we talked about our parents. The girls were good sports as usual. They don't like when Kelly get teary, but I think they like remembering what they can and hearing our memories. We are happy to know that we will be reunited one day.

Memorial Day Remembering

We took our annual trip to both my mom's and Kelly's parents' graves today to clean them and spend some reflection time. The girls are losing some of their memories, so it is good to talk about what we remember and keep those memories fresh. It takes a few hours of our day, but it's good family time away from the worldy distractions. Kelly is great about getting the stones shiny and new looking. He's a dutiful son and son-in-law, and I admire him for his desire to do this for our parents.
