Gotcha Award

We were rushing off to school this morning when Heather remembered that she got her first "Gotcha" Card at school yesterday.

H:  I got my first "Gotcha" Card for Caring which is "Helping others in need and showing compassion, forgiveness and thankfulness."

Me, thinking and just about to say: Of course! That's my girl!

H:  You know what I got it for?  Taking care of a cockroach under my teacher's desk!  My teacher was so grateful to me for being the only person out of all the girls and boys who would crawl under the desk and get it that she gave me an award for compassion.

There you have it.

All Because of A Book

Had dinner tonight with some lovely ladies from our original TwilightMoms group.  We bonded over a book, but have remained in touch and built friendships around other things besides the books.  Rhonda was here from Washington, and the rest of us drove from our So Cal locations to meet at Downtown Disney.  We had a nice dinner and talked about kids, church, family stuff, Twilight memories (of course), and our Healthy Living Challenge.  Those early memories will always be fun ones, and we still like to talk about our current friendships being "all because of a book."

Visiting at a Resort

Uncle Kevin and Aunt Beth are having a lovely time this week enjoying a trip that Uncle Kevin earned for top sales at his company.  The trips have generally been in exotic locals, but this year the destination was a very nice resort in Dana Point, very close to our little city in Southern CA.  The only day we could meet with them that was open for us and a free day for them was Sunday, so we headed down after church.  It was a little difficult to have this be the only day we could hang out, but unlike some other events, there was no alternative day, and we didn't want to miss the opportunity to hang out.

The resort was BEAUTIFUL!  The girls couldn't get over the bathroom (nor could I), and the architecture and layout of the facilities were so lovely.  We spent some time by the pool and jacuzzi looking out over the golf course and ocean, and after a rinse in the ginormous tub and quick dry-off, we took the shuttle down to see the private beach.  We had a blast visiting and playing with our family.

Iron Man 3 & Our Birds

While I was out with my friend, Angie, for breakfast on Saturday, Kelly and the girls made plans to see the 1:30PM showing of Iron Man 3.  We are a Marvel Comics family, and Heather was busting to go opening night.  It didn't work out, but she was excited to try the next day.  We were first in a really long line, got great seats and really enjoyed the movie.  We lunched at Islands and really enjoyed our time together.

When we got home, our little doves' chickies were poking out, so we snapped a photo.  First time in the years of nesting in our hanging basket that the eggs have been fertile, and it's kind of fun to have little chicks right outside our window.

Daddy-Heather Date

Kelly and Heather spent Friday night at California Adventure and Disneyland.  Guess they had to have their fun too.  They are so full of energy that they left at 8:00PM and came home just before 1:00AM.  I wish I had that kind of energy!

Disneyland Passes #3

Today was Jenna and Mommy day as we used our passes for the last time.  We started out in Disneyland doing some shopping, riding Pirates and eating Fritters.  The firehouse was empty, and it's been a long time since Jenna checked it out, so we explored for a minute.  We left Disneyland to head over to CA Adventure.  We had done the roller coaster two days in a row, so when it was closed, Jenna didn't seem too upset.  We tried the ferris wheel, but it closed while we were in line.   Luckily, the roller coaster was open again, so we rode it.  After that ride, we were hungry, and Jenna was okay to eat and going home.  We went to the restaurant that serves soup in bread bowls, but they were out of the corn chowder that Jenna wanted to go there for.  She was really bummed, but recovered and tried the clam chowder eventually deciding on the broccoli cheese.  We had a nice dinner by the water and watched the sunset.  It was great to spend time with my youngest.  We don't do that enough!

Disneyland Passes #2

Wednesday was our family night, and we decided to do California Adventure again.  Heather sported her Beaker hat she got on Monday.  We ended the night again getting wet.  We're crazy, I know.
