Christmas Eve!

Christmas is almost here! Decorating is done. Cinnamon rolls are made and presents are wrapped. It's been raining and cold. Heather was so bundled up in this picture getting ready to walk the dogs that we laughed at how she's going to be so, so cold in Idaho if she can't handle 50-degree weather. Sariah has been really mellow, and she seemed to like being near the Christmas tree and the presents.  Can't wait for Santa to get here!

A Summer Job for Jenna

Jenna took a two-week job watering a neighbor's front and back yard during July.  It was a perfect job for her.  I showed her what to do and worked the first day or two with her.  Then I supervised while she did it, and by the second week, she was flying solo while I waited in the car for her.  I love that my girls are able to take jobs for neighbors now, not just because of the pay and financial independence they gain experience with, but because of the great lessons on responsibility and feeling of accomplishment they gain.  She did a great job, and we're quite proud.

Party Planning

My most recent assignment as a personal assistant was to help organize a birthday party for my boss' mom.  It was really enjoyable to work on this project which involved organizing the vendors for flowers, cupcakes and catering.  My friend, Shea, ordered and arranged the beautiful lilacs, and another friend, Dina, did the cupcakes.  I was able to use my skills for the card collection area and the candy table arrangements.  The party was a huge success, and I can't wait to help with the next one.

Earning Money

Jenna decided that she needs to earn some money. Last night she announced that she will be willing to do what I suggest for jobs. Today she decided that washing the cars was worth the $5 per vehicle (I gave her $6 per vehicle for her great effort and initiative). She was a trooper. She collected her money, paid her $4.63 debt to me, set aside her tithing, and happily stored the rest in her wallet. She's already asking what she can do tomorrow.
