Wonder Con Day 2

Wonder Con Day 2 - Heather dressed in her Renaissance dress and used her basket to carry her things. She ran into Dumbledore and Professor Sprout. So cute. She attended with Brianna and Courtney from track and had a good time.

Wonder Con Day 1

Wonder Con Day 1 with Heather. She chose Victorian Steampunk for her cosplay today, and she looked amazing. Lots of photo requests. We found Jack Sparrow-Scissorhands, Superman (German accent, very hunky), Chuckie who tried to kill Heather, of course, and BB8 who actually moved around and talked to Heather. It's always fun for me to shadow Heather and the cons and see how creative people are.

Hogsmeade and An Owl

Cauldron Cakes, Gilly Water and the Sorting Hat means a day spent in Harry Potter World. Heather and I had a great Mom-Daughter date today.  I even found my friend, Sarah, again. After a beautiful, magical day in Hogsmeade, Heather had just snuggled into bed when there was a knock on the door. I was a little spooked because it was 11:00 p.m., but after we were pretty sure there wasn't any nefarious activity going on in our yard, I opened the door and then got Heather so she could re-open the door. An Owl had arrived with a special invitation from Hogwarts to attend the Mormon Formal with Tanner Glazier, a fellow Hogwarts fan. What a perfect end to a perfect day. Heather was elated to not only receive an invitation, but over-the-moon to receive such a creative one from a boy she was perfectly happy and comfortable to go to the dance with.

Harry Potter World!

Today was the day that the Peterson family went to Hogwarts! We purchased Universal Studios Hollywood passes, and we got to choose our first day from any day on the calendar (no blackout applied). The Kohanek family were also having their first experience, and we chose a date that worked for both our families.

We spent HOURS in the Harry Potter portion of the park. The village of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts were simply magical. We rode the Quidditch experience inside the castle and the Hippogriff rollercoaster. And then we shopped and explored. The girls purchased interactive wands in Ollivanders, we had butter beer, and we had lunch at the Three Broomsticks. We visited Honeydukes and bought candy, and the Weasly's shop also. We spent some time roaming and checking out every alley and shop, and the girls had a great time using their wands.

We did explore a bit of the rest of the park and took the back lot tour, but by far, the day belonged to getting lost in the Harry Potter experience.

Anime Expo AX 2016

AnimeExpo 2016 rolled around again. It covered July 1-4.  I missed the three-day pass sale so, I went on Saturday and Monday.  Heather, Kenzie and Kat dressed as characters from Soul Eater, then Death Note and then Soul Eater again. AX has some of the nicest people who all love the same things. The girls found the entire Soul Eater clan and they were all excited to find the entire cast of characters the they all made time to take pictures together.  She and Kenzie are like celebs when they go.  And if they find others from their favorites (like the school dudes pictured above) they might as well be meeting celebs themselves.  Lots of mutual appreciation all around.  I'm happy to spend time with the girls, and I love watching them be so happy.  Oh, and Heather met Nate from Nate Wants To Battle.  He's a talented musician who has put out his songs on Youtube and has now produced and released an album.  She was over-the-moon to run into him and get a picture with him.
