Father's Day

Celebrating our dads today. Kelly is such an awesome father to our girls. He's energetic and loving, and he's always up for an adventure. He works so hard to provide for our family. We can't thank him enough for that. My dad is 77 and still going strong. He's in the process of moving from Idyllwild to Westminster where he'll be about 8 minutes from us, and that will make it easier for us to help him out when he needs it. I found a picture of he and I on a raft when I was pretty young. I remember my dad being strong and fun and always doing nice things for us. I've mentioned the trips to the park, the Saturday morning donuts and the Thrifty ice cream runs. He taught me how to drive, to get up every morning and to press on even when the going gets tough. We're glad he is still with us so we can celebrate together. Happy Father's Day to our two dear fathers!

Half Dome with Dad and Kenzie

Kelly and Heather took another trip to Yosemite to backpack in and climb Half Dome, and this time Heather's friend, MacKenzie, went with them. They were going to leave our house early in the morning, but Kelly got nervous about Half Dome permits which he hadn't been able to obtain when he got the trail passes. So they left at midnight and drove all the way to the Yosemite Valley. They set up chairs at the ranger station so they could be the first ones to be in line for permits. They were successful! And also tired after not much sleep except for dozing in the beach chairs. They camped in backpackers camp and were on their way to Little Yosemite Valley the next morning. After a night in Little Yosemite Valley, they hiked to Half Dome. What a great adventure! They got up early and were literally the first ones up the mountain which is why we have no group pictures. All was well and safe which made this momma happy. After hiking back and chilling out, they spent the following day tubing in some of the slower parts of the river and rock slides. They hiked back out the next day, and they all reported the trip being a blast!

Bridal Shower for Hannah

While Kelly and Heather were backpacking, Jenna and I got to help throw a shower for our friend, Hannah Holbrook. She met a wonderful boy in Hawaii named Dallin (he's actually from Utah), and they fell in love. We are so happy for them. It was fun to celebrate with a fun, travel-themed bridal shower. Congratulations Hannah!

Last Day of 7th Grade

Last day of 7th Grade for Jenna! Woot! She made it! Next year she'll be among the ruling class of 8th graders. The last day of school was spent with the field trip to Boomers. Always a fun day with friends. Jenna passed up the trip to Half Dome with Dad and Heather so she could participate in the last day festivities as well as the after school pool parties. She knows what she wants to do, and that's awesome. Friends and fun. What better way to celebrate?!?

Last day of 10th grade for Heather!  Woot! She made it! What a school year it's been! Lunch at Corner Bakery with Grace and the FVHS homies took place after school. We're breathing easy tonight and ready for the break!

Writer Girl

Heather can frequently be found typing away on the keyboard. She is writing constantly, ideas flowing freely. She is amazingly creative, and we can't wait to see what she turns out. Since I don't like fan fiction (or chapters one at a time), I'm waiting for her to tell me when it's a good time to read her work. This is such a great outlet for her. One day in the future when she's a famous author, we'll be able to dig up pictures like this and say, "See! We knew this would happen one day!"
