Newsie's Practice for the Jubilee

Tonight's practice for the Jubilee was fun for Heather. She's in the Newsie's number, and Sister Holmstrom asked who could do tricks. It seemed the right place for hurdling over some people, so Heather mentioned it to her. Here she's hurdling over one person, and then she tried two. This girl can fly! She's got a part in the trick section, and I know she'll do great.

The Show Is Over!

Our big show is over, and we're packing up. We've turned in our costumes and are turning our attention to putting everything away at home. It has been a fun few weeks, and we have strengthened friendships and made new ones. That is one of my favorite things about our shows--we meet new people in the Stake that we may never have crossed paths with otherwise. My second favorite thing is sharing what we've worked on with friends. We definitely have some great memories to keep! And I must add, because this is our FAMILY blog, that Kelly made all things possible with his sound engineering genius. He worked long, long hours so that our show would have the best sound possible, and he did an INCREDIBLE job!

I performed in "It's A Small World," and I choreographed "Every Girl Can Be A Princess," "I've Got A Dream" from Tangled, and "Ghostbusters" (with my friend, Tricia).

Braiding Rapunzel's Hair

After a long day of rehearsals, recording and friend time, our family reconnected at the stake center to plan the remaining hours of our Saturday evening. There was a very important task needing to be addressed for our show, and that was the creation of Rapunzel's beautiful hair. One of our costumers came down to work on it, and those of us remaining pitched into help. How many does it take to braid this hair? You can see that it is quite a process. I had to take pictures and had to laugh at our multi-talented sound engineer who also does braids. Who knew?I can't wait to see this hair on our fair Rapunzel.

Day of Love

It's Valentine's Day! Happy Valentine's Day to all our loved ones. We have no decorating going on to speak of, but I did crawl up into the rafters to pull down our box of decorations so that the girls could have their "heart path" from their bedroom to breakfast. I managed to pick up a couple of treats last night and get a cute table set. We had heart shaped pancakes for breakfast and finished Valentine's for friends as we were running out the door. More rehearsals tonight for mom, but we'll squeeze in a candlelight taco dinner before I leave. xoxo

Holiday Weekend

Our three-day weekend went something like this:

Friday - Rehearsals; Saturday - Rehearsals; Sunday - Church; Monday - Rehearsals

Everything in between was necessary functioning stuff like laundry, groceries, showers, sleep, etc. Jenna wanted to have a sleepover, but we couldn't swing it. Our weekend highlight was a compromise where we had her friend, Ava, come over to get doughnuts with us on Monday morning. That was the best we could do, but it was fun. If you can't swing a sleepover, you can still enjoy a sugary breakfast, right?

What we're up to...

Our Stake (church) is having their "Big Show" this spring (yes, it's only been 2.5 years instead of 3 since our last in the fall of 2009). This means it's show time in the Peterson household. I've been busy helping with auditions and preparation for our first rehearsals which begin tonight. The show is a family affair with Kelly on single dad duty and the girls taking on the responsibility of getting homework finished and getting to bed at a good time.

Everyone is doing well, including myself--I had to make sure this time around didn't result in my house and family running on "fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants" mode. I'm trying to get dishes done every night and clutter managed along with frequent laundry loads. I've had a shift recently wherein I am not willing to sacrifice so much for the cause anymore. I'm normally an all or nothing gal, but now, I'm working on tempering that so that I can participate and not feel like my family has to go without a wife and mother for six weeks. A lot of it has to do with my managing time wisely, and that has been a challenge for me for a while. We'll see how it goes.
