Volleyball Lessons and PRs

Long day of sports today. Jenna gave it her all with the time her coach put her on the court (he was playing everyone today). Sometimes you have to do what the coach says even though you don't understand, and even though it causes your team to lose.  Jenna took it all in stride (the parents weren't too happy, but are learning lessons in patience). Heather PR'd by two seconds in the 300m Hurdles. We stayed at Jenna's tournament not knowing Heather would have the race of her season at the Trabuco Hills Mustang Roundup track and field event.  Fortunately, our Booster President was filming all the races and caught Heather's. And our friend, Kim Peterson, was in the stands cheering her on. We love watching our girls give it their all and see their hard work pay off. Proud parent moments for sure!

New Beginnings

Tonight was New Beginnings. Both girls spoke and did a lovely job. Kelly was the bishopric member who spoke. I was so proud of my people.

Weather and Braces Off

Crazy day with crazy weather! The wind and the rain were so strong. Our neighbor's construction portapotty upended in our driveway.  There was a beautiful double rainbow and...JENNA GOT HER BRACES OFF! WOOOOOO-HOOOOOO! Look at our beautiful girl! What a smile!

Sarah's Birthday

It was the coldest day of the year, but it was Sarah's birthday, and Jenna wanted to take her for ice cream.  We tried Rollin' Creamery, and it was delicious. Jenna picked out some jewelry for Sarah that included some best friends stuff.  Fun outing!

Valentine's Day

Pulled off Valentine's Day decor, dinner and dessert in one day. We've been so busy I had pretty much forgotten to be prepared. It all worked out, and Kelly brought home some flowers for the women. Tradition saved! Whew!

Hogsmeade and An Owl

Cauldron Cakes, Gilly Water and the Sorting Hat means a day spent in Harry Potter World. Heather and I had a great Mom-Daughter date today.  I even found my friend, Sarah, again. After a beautiful, magical day in Hogsmeade, Heather had just snuggled into bed when there was a knock on the door. I was a little spooked because it was 11:00 p.m., but after we were pretty sure there wasn't any nefarious activity going on in our yard, I opened the door and then got Heather so she could re-open the door. An Owl had arrived with a special invitation from Hogwarts to attend the Mormon Formal with Tanner Glazier, a fellow Hogwarts fan. What a perfect end to a perfect day. Heather was elated to not only receive an invitation, but over-the-moon to receive such a creative one from a boy she was perfectly happy and comfortable to go to the dance with.

Daddy-Daughter Volleyball Tournament

These two competed in Tstreet's Daddy-Daughter tournament. There were prizes for best pair costume, and they took 2nd place! They were on fire and definitely brought the heat! All puns intended! Jenna won a prize basket filled with a cozy sherpa blanket, slippers and a month free at Athletic Republic. Way to go fire couple!

Jenna Turns 15!

Our Jenna-bug turned 15 today! She is getting SO tall and growing into a beautiful young woman. She has a dry sense of humor, she is artistic and she is amazing in her determination to try ideas that come to her. She is a perfectionist which can cause problems with her satisfaction with things she does or encounters, but she is learning how to set expectations. She and her dad have so much fun playing volleyball on the beach or watching on tv. Her volleyball skills are growing as she takes private lessons and practices with her club.

Jenna started her day by going to Mimi's for breakfast with Sarah. In the evening, she invited her group of closer friends over to hang out and go to Get Air. They all had a great time. Next year these kiddos will be dating and driving and getting ready for college testing. Time is flying so fast. Happy birthday sweet Jenna!

Last Disney Days

We've been bringing our babies here since Heather was a year old. We thought those little kid years would last forever! How wrong we were. Now, lives and schedules are so busy with high school and sports, and the passes have gotten very expensive. We will let our passes expire for now. I know we will miss them terribly, but the money cannot be justified right now when we have very little time to visit our happy place. So, we visited tonight and had a blast.  We made memories with our "babies." This isn't the end of our visiting Disneyland, but it will be awhile. We are so grateful for the wonderful, wonderful memories.
