Wonder Con Day 1

Wonder Con Day 1 with Heather. She chose Victorian Steampunk for her cosplay today, and she looked amazing. Lots of photo requests. We found Jack Sparrow-Scissorhands, Superman (German accent, very hunky), Chuckie who tried to kill Heather, of course, and BB8 who actually moved around and talked to Heather. It's always fun for me to shadow Heather and the cons and see how creative people are.

Photo Finish

Photo finish for 2nd and 3rd today in the Varsity 300m Hurdle race. Heather had a 3rd place finish missing 2nd by just .01 seconds, AND had another PR. Great race today!

Youth Fireside with Madilyn Page

Tonight's Youth Fireside was AMAZING! I tagged along with my family to hear Season 6 "The Voice" contestant, Madilyn Paige, speak to our youth about being true to themselves, not comparing themselves to others, and maintaining high standards. Hearing her sing several songs was a huge treat. Thank you Madilyn for sharing your light!

Beach Cities Invitational

Heather PR'd today at the Beach Cities Invitational in the 300m Hurdles. This put her 8th overall which was amazing. Mr. Mosher (Grace's dad) was there with one of his athletes from Ocean View, and he clocked Heather's hurdles and was able to give her some great feedback. He's such a great guy and so supportive!

Mormon Formal 007 Style

Heather and Tanner attended the LDS formal tonight. It was 007 themed, and they looked the part. After not being sure if the dress Heather chose would be okay for this dance (it was long, form fitting, and had lace sleeves), Lucy Corey offered to let us rent this beaded stunner. It fit Heather like a glove, covered everything, and was perfect for the theme. The sparkles were so beautiful, and Sister Hansen did an amazing job on Heather's hair. Heather was thrilled to have a date she felt comfortable with and who she could talk to. Lizzy was in this group too which added to the comfort. So fun to see her get all dressed up for this formal where old fashioned values (boy asks the girl) were experienced. Definitely not the norm in our society today, and we're glad our youth get these experiences.

The Getty Center

Today was Heather's AP Art History field trip to The Getty Center. This is the larger of the museums and it houses a more varied collection. It's up on a hill, and we rode a tram up to the top. The grounds were spectacular, and the art work was so interesting. We had a great time! Last school field trip for me and my girl. What a cutie she is, and how blessed we were to spend this time together.

Redondo Nike Invitational

Heather ran in the Redondo Nike Invitational today. Her first race was amazing as she kicked into 2nd place in her heat matching her PR in the Variety 100m hurdles. She had high hopes for the 300m hurdles as this is her strong race, however, FIVE HOURS later at the start time, the fog was so thick and cold she did not run her best race. She may have shivered through the whole thing. Huge weather bummer. She's excited to have had a good race earlier in the day placing in the top third overall. This is a meet where top athletes perform, and we're proud of her achievement today.

Miss Fountain Valley

Heather supported two beautiful friends tonight at the Miss Fountain Valley pageant. Congratulations, Penelope, for your 1st Runner Up finish! Both girls sang like angels and looked so stunning.
