Lyell Canyon, Day 3

On day three, we were off to play in the river.  Kelly and Jenna discovered an area just above us wherethere was a natural rock slide.  The slide was a little slow, but fun.  After sliding, the trio floated down the river toward our camp.  Kelly planned this trip specifically for river play because the girls always have so much fun in the river.  The water was COLD though, so they didn't stay in very long.  That was actually a good thing because with in a short period of time, this lovely sky...

turned into this...

We had thunder, lightning and steady rain for almost 1.5 hours.  We stayed in our tents and rested and read books.  It was quite fun to listen to the thunder and rain, but everything got soaked.  Good thing the sun warms up quickly.  By the next day, things were pretty much dried up.  Not long after the storm the weather cleared, and we went down to fish and sit by the water slide again to enjoy the rushing beauty of the water.  Below is a picture of our sweet campsite nestled in the trees, up a little higher than and secluded from the trail.
