Beach Camping

We spent 7 nights at San Elijo State Beach this past week. The first few day were gloriously sunny, there was no seaweed, and there were even a few waves on a couple of days. This was truly the best weather and water condition we've had in years. The Holbrook's joined us for the first three nights, and the kids had tons of fun playing together.

Jenna and Heather built sand castles with Caleb and Sarah.

Some of the fun things I didn't get pictures of were friends who visited. Jessica Erickson brought her two boys down on Tuesday for a couple of hours, and Bill and Judy Hailey came to visit near the end of the week.

I am surprised at the lack of pictures I took. I guess we have so many pictures of our beach trips that I was being conservative. As a result, I wasn't the best photo journalist this time around.

Aside from lounging on the beach, we enjoyed some campfire time, visits to our favorite restaurants (Beach City Burrito and Besta Wan Pizza House) and multiple trips to V.G.'s bakery's for the world's best donuts. Pictures of our trip to the Mormon Battalion Center, Old Town San Diego and the San Diego Mission will be in another post.

The tide was really low one afternoon, and we had a tide pool situation.
Kelly rounded up a small lobster and a crab.

The girls love playing under the bridge where the tide flows in and out.

The sunsets were gorgeous!

Looks like fun. We might have to go visit some places when I come again (like VG's). Glad you could relax and visit with family and friends.

Beautiful sunset pics!! Is it just me or does Heather look just like her dad and Jenna is the spitting image of you Melissa.

This looks like such a fun vacation spot (you know, because there is a donut shop across the street and, oh yeah, the beach is there!). Glad you had such a nice time.
