Barton Flats Camping

We spent the weekend at the Barton Flats campground in the San Gregonio mountains near Big Bear, CA.  It was the maiden voyage for our new fifth-wheel.  Amazingly enough, I took no pictures inside the trailer.  What was up with that??  Anyway, we arrived after dark on Thursday evening to a near empty campground.  It started to fill up with campers on Friday, and we began exploring the area as soon as we could.

On our first day we took a hike in the morning.

After discovering that we didn't have any dish soap, we made the 24 mile drive into Big Bear for the nearest store.  Here we stopped at a bridge across Big Bear Lake that was built fairly recently.

We stopped at a cute Italian place in the village that had amazing pizza!

On Saturday we headed over to the Santa Ana River.

Of course there had to be something to do at the river that was super fun....how about a flip flop race?  Kelly and Heather race their shoes down the current.  Jenna sat on a log to catch and return them.  This went on for several minutes.
