Tearful Goodbye to Guinea Pigs

Tonight we said good-bye to our two female guinea pigs.  After an extensive search to find homes for them, we contacted the momma's original home and made arrangements for her and her baby to return there.  It was too hard to have the 3 males and 2 females all at the same time, and since the males currently make better pets, we decided to let the females go.  The birth of the babies was a fun experience, but one we were happy to have just the one time.

The girls took turns holding Lizzy for a last good-bye cuddle.  Heather is our sentimental one.  She had a hard time saying good-bye even though she knew it was the best solution we could have.

Jenna was okay with everything.  She knew we'd have to do this eventually and she has known for awhile that Lizzy was to skittish to enjoy being held.  She is happy to adopt one of the male babies for her own instead.

Whenever you need a good distraction, take advantage of your neighbor's offer to hop on their trampoline.  Thanks Shelly!  All sad good-byes were forgotten after a bit.

That picture of Heather is so cute! I can totally relate to her... I had a few of those moments in my young life. They were never easy. Aren't distractions fabulous!?
