We sometimes take for granted that we have the beach in our backyard. We are reminded of just how special that is whenever our family visits. Aunt Michelle is a California girl, and it's a must do activity whether she and Gavin visit in the summer or winter.
Tuesday was Huntington Beach day. We did our traditional meal at Ruby's Diner on the pier. Grandpa was with us for this trip and treated us all to lunch. Thank you Grandpa!
The side of the diner has this great turquoise wall which was a perfect backdrop for our bespeckled, toothless cutie.
Wednesday was our Newport Beach day. We went to the spot next to the jetty where the kids can go out pretty far and not get pummled by the waves. Jenna loves her boogie board. She even attempts a little surfing on it. I'm sure that will be her next activity as she gets older and braver.
The sand is softer at Newport as well. Great for building sand castles and such. The kids could spend hours on their sand creations alone.

We had such a good time when we went to the beach last week. You are lucky to live so close.
